I really enjoyed this. The tempo marking for the prelude says Moderato, but the piece is being played in andantino if I am not wrong. Most interpretations play it slower like this. I enjoy it at this tempo, no problem. I am just wondering if this is considered as something odd according to generally held norms in interpretation.

Agree but it's also the recording quality that is exacerbating it
This piece is extremely difficult to sing in ‘one voice’ (as is required) - keeping a perfectly harmonized tempo with every note change and ritard. If one cannot (or does not) feel and correctly interpret the pace and energy of the other, it is ruined. I’ve only heard it played perfectly live once, by Joshua Bell and the concertmaster of the San Francisco Symphony - a monumental achievement seeing how they sang so intricately and seriously, moving as one. Their encore triumphed the entire symphonic performance - this tiny short, that demands every ounce of dignity and focus a player can afford. An excellent exercise for chamber musicians, this piece, nonetheless. It flows much more naturally from voices or a pair of classical guitars, although there are, on occasion, some cellists that give it a nice run for its money.
